Wildlife and Forestry Expert Presentations

Dear Community Trail Coalition and Pelham Pathway Members,

We are excited to share a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of Pelham’s natural landscapes! Please join us at the next Conservation Commission (CC) meeting on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at 7 PM at Sherburne Hall.

We’ll have the privilege of hearing from two leading experts from the UNH Cooperative Extension:

Their insights have significantly influenced the management of Pelham’s Town Forests and conservation areas. They will share valuable knowledge about wildlife habitats, timber harvesting benefits, field management strategies, and the science behind our forest and field practices. This is a fantastic chance to understand the rationale behind conservation decisions like selective mowing schedules and habitat preservation methods.

A big thank you to Chris Gallaher for bringing this opportunity to our attention! Chris recently recommended a fascinating video by Matt Tarr on wildlife habitat assessment and management. It’s an excellent foundation for this discussion. (See the link below)

We look forward to seeing you there and engaging in this important conversation about preserving and enhancing Pelham’s natural beauty.

Warm regards,
Yvonne La-Garde
Pelham Community Trail Coalition Chairperson
