We are excited to share our vision for an All Persons Trail at the Merriam Farm Conservation Area. This universally accessible trail is designed to break down barriers to the outdoors, ensuring that people of all abilities and backgrounds can enjoy the beauty of nature. Inspired by the Cedar Swamp All Persons Trail in Manchester, New Hampshire, which features resting benches and interpretive points of interest along its 1.2-mile path, our goal is to create a similar inclusive experience right here in Pelham.
All Persons Trails are about more than just physical access. They symbolize a commitment to inclusivity, allowing everyone, from wheelchair users to families with strollers, to connect with the natural world. These trails bring people closer to nature, fostering a sense of community and well-being for all.
On Monday, July 8th, representatives from the Land, Water & Conservation Fund visited the Merriam Conservation Trails. They were impressed with our beautiful location and encouraged us to pursue funding from the Fund to build our All Persons Trail. This $200,000 project will likely take two to three years to complete, but we are convinced it is a worthy goal that will make Pelham a more age-friendly and inclusive community.
To see the beauty of Merriam Farm for yourself, please watch the attached video created by our dedicated volunteers, the link to the video is as follows: https://youtu.be/Hcr9wylDSA8?feature=shared. We believe that once you experience the trails, you will understand the profound impact an All Persons Trail can have on our community.
While we are not asking for your financial support at this moment, we hope to educate and inspire you about the importance of All Persons Trails. Your support and enthusiasm will be crucial as we move forward with this project.
Thank you for being a part of our journey towards a more inclusive and compassionate community. Together, we can create a space where everyone can enjoy the wonders of the great outdoors.
Happy Trails to you!
